Jack Frost is hardly the clay figure you see on tv. There's a lot more to his story other than blowing some really cold wind, and keeping Frosty the Snowman alive. He's a personification of winter that's hardly looked upon; you only hear about him once or twice during the Christmas season, right? There's so much more to him than just that. But honestly? He's kind of used to being under classified though.
He's a funny little trickster that likes to fly with the wind (literally!) and bring joy to children by the fun of winter. Jack uses his staff to ride where the breeze goes, and causes trouble to fly with him. Those who don't believe usually blame the cold wind and the icy roads on the weather. But it's usually Jack, up to no good and giving himself a laugh or two. And when everything goes okay, someone will be laughing with him, whether they see him or not.
Despite Jack wanting to have nothing but a little bit of fun, not everyone sees things this way. The Guardians in particular know a few things about him, but not all of them are keen on accepting him when he's chosen as a Guardian. The Easter Bunny has a grudge or two against him for frosting over one of his special easter egg hunts, for example. He's seen as irresponsible, immature, and childish to those who don't really know him. One of the problems with being the underdog in everything is that you don't have a lot going for you. And that bothers Jack a little at first.
The whole idea of becoming a Guardian at first is unsettling. Jack died when he was 18, protecting his sister during the Colonial ages. He learned the hard way that nobody really knew who Jack Frost was, and that stuck around for a long 300 years. During that span of time he had absolutely no direct contact with any person whatsoever, and hardly had any contact with the Guardians themselves. When he was first brought to the North Pole to be told the news, he needed a complete introduction to the rest of the Guardians because he didn't really know them. Despite his fun personality, Jack was very lonely for a while.
He lived for a while questioning what he was brought to do. When Jack was reborn, he suffered from amnesia. Unlike the other Guardians, he had no idea who he was before, or what he had. Jack Frost just assumed he was brought out of an icy cold lake to be Jack Frost. Not knowing anything about him, plus the fact that there seemed to be no legitimate reason for his existence was something that was a constant bother to him.
Jack never gave up on himself, though. He tried his hardest to get himself noticed, even though every attempt was in vain. He froze up water pipes, and made the roads a little slippy. He made kids go on insane sledding rides and caused snow to fall in the middle of April. Jack didn't do everything for just his own entertainment, although it was a pretty large part of it. Jack now is the Guardian of Fun; it's his job to protect the fun that makes children enjoy their childhood. He likes to have fun, and likes it even more when others enjoy it with him.
Even though he's kind of lanky and doesn't have much muscle to his name, Jack's a very strong individual. For 300 years, he wandered around where the cold went not knowing a single thing about his past, and wasn't noticed by anybody in the world. He saw everything grow from small little log cabins to skyscrapers and apartments, and in that timeframe nobody ever recognized him. To have to suffer through that kind of loneliness could have easily taken its toll on him, but Jack refused to let himself be bummed out and continued to wander through each day.
As immature as some may say he is, Jack's actually very mature and wise. Maybe not as wise as the other Guardians, but then again, he's only 300 years old. He knows that his center is the most important part of him, as his duty to protect the fun in a child's life. He will do anything to protect someone, no matter if they blow him off as something in a kid's song or they don't like him in general. Jack doesn't usually let his own personal grudges get in the way of important business. But that doesn't mean he'll pull a stunt or two on them though!
Jack Frost may not have a popular name like Santa's, or not look like he's all up for the part of a Guardian. But he's warm hearted, and means the best no matter what.
Motivations:
All Guardians have something special called a Center. It's what makes that specific Guardian unique; it's the one thing that they're to protect in children everywhere. Santa's center is wonder, the Tooth Fairy's is memories. It's their center that makes a Guardian a Guardian, and it's completely in harmony with their personality, all the way down to what exactly they do every day. They're made to protect it, and enforce it.
Jack's main motivation is his center: fun. There's nothing more that fuels Jack than making it snow and, and knowing that there are kids out there enjoying snow days or making snowmen in their yards. Even though he didn't exactly know what it was at first, Jack's center was a huge motivation for him for 300 years. Having fun and seeing the other kids have fun was one of the only things that made him flying, even when the kids couldn't see him at all. Fun was what made Jack Frost tick.
The kids were just as important as his center. Making sure that the kids were happy and safe was something that would put his mind to rest. As a Guardian, his job was to protect the fun in children, so he's technically protecting the children themselves. Now that he knows what his center is and that he has a purpose, Jack is always constantly on his toes (probably literally, sometimes), making sure that kids everywhere enjoy winter without anything coming to harm them.
Now that Jack Frost knows all of the Guardians, they are a motivator for him too. When he was first chosen, Jack didn't want anything to do with them. He only saw being a Guardian being locked up with deadlines and not doing anything physically fun with the kids. But after a while when he got to know them more and defeated Pitch Black with them, they became a very big part of his life from then on. He's a part of the Guardianship; he's connected. They like him now, and Jack likes them right back in return.
For a long time, Jack didn't know who he was, or why he existed. A part of him was always lost because of this. It wasn't until he regained his memories of his past life that Jack realized that he really was here for a purpose, and that he was a true Guardian. Jack learned that he had a family and a sister, and that he saved her from falling into an icy lake. He had friends, and a home, and a purpose. And that purpose is what really motivates him, too. Knowing that he had something before, and he has something now is what gave him his serious boost. And it continues to boost him now.
Another motivator for Jack is being free. The one thing he didn't like about the Guardians at first was how they always seemed to be bottled up all the time. They had strict deadlines for special holidays, and there was no such thing as free time. Jack liked to spend time with the kids, instead of spending all his time away from them. He's a free spirit and doesn't like to be cooped up, so he takes his freedom by the horns and enjoys it all when he can.
Setting: Becoming a tribute in the Games will be absolutely devastating for Jack.
As a Guardian, it's his job to protect the element of fun in kids and in everything. If he's going to be suddenly thrust an in environment where it's every person for themselves with dire consequences to follow, it will constantly eat at him. He likes to protect and have fun and joke around. To be in a place where all of this will be virtually nonexistent will be a very difficult thing to adjust to, if he ever does. He'll try his best to survive as a human rather than a spirit, but he'll also try to protect his center as hard as he can.
He'll be angered and disgusted by the Capitol and the Gamemakers for coming up with such a brutal game, and how they drag kids into the middle of it. And he might also feel betrayed at someone else who lives in the moon, for making him a Guardian one day and then changing everything around the next. But he might just be angry at himself even more.
Jack will constantly be at war with whatever part of him wants to survive. He's a Guardian, and in the Arenas he's doing the exact opposite of what he's supposed to do. It'll cause a whole new slew of questions to pop up, and some delicious inner turmoil will be made.

First Person Thread:
You have just been killed in your first arena. It was violent, messy, and unexpected. And just as suddenly you wake back up in a very cold, very medical room. After a few moments of silence, a voice comes up over the speakers.
"Please use the device to the right to record your current feeling on your loss. Once you are finished, someone will be along to take you back to the Capitol." On cue, a small recording device starts to chirp at your side.
It is quite clear that you will be staying in the room until you make that recording.
[ When Jack wakes up, he screams.
It had been a long time since he died. It was wintery, it was cold. When he fell into that icy pond, everything just…stopped. His body was slowing down, but he didn't know. For all he knew, he fell asleep, and then woke again as Jack Frost. There was hardly anything to feel.
But this time, he felt everything.
Jack felt this horrible, awful heat that burned him from top to bottom. His skin had been scorching, and he barely had the strength to stand. Sand had been in his mouth, down his throat. His mouth had been sore and dry, but not a drop of water to be found. The heat was so bad, he saw things in the middle of nowhere. The worst part of it had to be when he felt his inside baking. He could literally feel his blood boiling, it was that bad.
He couldn't say he was used to dying; he had been living well for the past 318 years. Death was something you didn't have to worry about as a Guardian, as long as the children were okay. But he died that day. Jack Frost had died. And that shook Jack right to his core.
Jack feels his body struggle to pull in air as he chokes, hardly finding the strength to roll out of the cold metal bed and onto the floor. He hears something chirping from the speakers, but it's lost. He gasps and crawls over to one of the walls, leaning against it as he struggles to calm his breathing. There's so many thoughts rushing through his head. He died. he died, and you can't just do that. He can't do that! He's a Guardian; he just can't die. What about the-
After what seems like forever, Jack speaks, his voice cracking as he speaks. ] The kids…?
[ Jack grits his teeth, glaring down to his feet. He wraps his arms around his middle and sits there for some time. It's so hard to process this. It's hard to accept the terms of his death, to actually sit there and think 'yes, this happened to me'. It's hard for him to think that everyone might have died this way or some other, and that they went through the same agony as he did. His throat was still sore, and it hurt him to breathe.
…There were kids in that arena, weren't there? Jack had seen some before. But he couldn't help, they were on their own, and he was being chased… ]
I…I can't believe this. [ His voice is still raspy as he continues. ] I can't believe…I don't know what to say about this. What do you mean, 'my current feeling on loss'? [ He rubs an eye, and shakes his head. ] What am I supposed to say?
[ A pause. ] It was awful. I feel empty. Like… [ Like the first time he died, maybe? When Jack came out of the lake, he only knew that his name was Jack Frost. And for 300 years, he walked around not even knowing who he was. It was like that, only- ] I've been cheated or something. I don't-
Children have to go through this, don't they? [ A pause. ] I saw a child in the desert. She was there, but I was being chased and I couldn't help… [ There's a horrible guilt that washes over him then. But this couldn't be entirely his fault. He had been chased. By bigger people, wielding all kinds of weapons that kids shouldn't be allowed. What good would he had been to anyone dead? Maybe she lasted as long as he did, anyway. ]
I'm a Guardian. It's my job to protect children everywhere, no matter who are what they are. [ His voice grows cold, then. He has a purpose, and it's time to fulfill it. ] Maybe this shouldn't be about me. Maybe it should be about you. [ And that's all you're going to get. ]
Prose:
If you are a new tribute, you have been plucked from home and rushed in here with only a brief explanation of what is going on: You are about to enter an arena death match that only one person will make it out of, and impressing these people will help you live.
Jack couldn't believe this.
There was so much going through his head right now. It was hard to concentrate, it was hard to think. There was this unrealistic denial that this was some kind of bad dream. Was the Boogeyman around again? Maybe he got hit with a bit of nightmare sand, and this was all just part of the ride. It was a pretty sick one, if you asked him.
He stood in an empty room, a group of adults looking right onto him. They could see him right then and there. Jack Frost wasn't invisible this time, no. Jack Frost was the only thing standing in the spotlight right now.
Sure, Jack wanted to be noticed. But not this way. Not for this reason.
He was brought here to kill. That was pretty much everything against his new Guardianship. Jack was supposed to protect kids, not hurt them. He didn't want to hurt anyone. The thought of anyone dying because of him was the most sickening thing he could imagine.
Jack gritted his teeth, running a hand through his white hair. In front of him laid an array of weapons, some he'd never even seen before in his 318 years. There were swords and axes, bows and lances. He had all of these things, but the things he really wanted weren't here with him. His powers? Gone. His staff? Gone too. If that didn't make Jack feel completely and utterly naked, nothing did.
So what was he supposed to do? Jack didn't want to impress these people; who would want to, knowing what the purpose of this was for? He didn't want to kill, he wanted to protect. If the Man in Moon saw this, what would he even think?
The Man in the Moon…
It was like his legs were moving on their own. Jack approached the tables, his bare feet hardly making a sound on the cold floor. He leisurely walked up and picked up a few kunai lying there. Maybe if he thought hard enough, it could be an icicle.
The Man in the Moon chose him to be a Guardian; Jack knew that for a fact now. But what did Man in Moon really want? Did he want him to be a Guardian, or not? Was his intentions to make him a Guardian and make him really fit in, and then dump the idea completely for another one? Jack could feel anger slowly starting to bubble up with a deep sting of betrayal that made his guts twist in knots.
What do you really want me to do? Jack took a few steps back, trying to focus on the little details of the weapon. The sharp point, the wraps around the hilt. Do you have a point for me at all, or do you like to watch me run around in circles. I'm not laughing.
He wasn't a Guardian, he wasn't a stray spirit that had the name of Jack Frost who made things cold and icy. Was he a tribute, then? Wasn't he? You put me here to do all of these things, and when I thought I was right, you changed it again. I was a Guardian, I knew I was. And you changed it again!
Jack's grip on the kunai grew tighter, and he started to grind it teeth even harder. This wasn't right. None of it was! You're leading me in circles, and I can't do it anymore! You either need to tell me what I'm supposed to do, or get rid of me! Find someone else!
I can't do this. I can't do this. Did Man in Moon expect him to? Of course he did, or Jack wouldn't be here right now. A part of him was lost, knowing that Man in Moon wouldn't do this, but it was blinded by Jack's sudden slew of emotions. They wanted him to kill. They wanted him to kill others, and children, and…
I can't do this. Before he knew it, Jack was glaring at the dummy, the kunai weaved between his fingers. Icicles, icicles…
I can't! The anger grew to a breaking point, filling Jack up so quick he could hardly even think. He raised his arm, and screamed, "I can't!"
He threw the kunai then, and hardly hear the audible 'thwump!' as they hit the dummy, sinking deep into the fabric. One in the head, two on the same side. Jack raised his head once it started to clear, and saw what he did.
That would be someone soon, wouldn't it? That could have been someone. A kid…
Jack took one last look at the judges, who were watching him closely as ever. He looked through them, left to right, before turning his back and running for the doors.
What is your character scored:
There's a lot of things that makes Jack Jack.
physical.
So he may be 318 year old, but he's incredibly loose-limbed. When Jack isn't moving quickly from one end of the planet to the other, he can hop from building to building by using the wind, and he hardly makes a sound. He can stand on something thin like his staff, a fence, or even power lines and not even lose his balance once. He's very flexible, and agile. There's not one time where he's moving around from place to place and he ends up running into something. It's like he's part of the air itself, and he moves around like he's one. Jack be nimble, Jack be quick...
He's incredibly strong, too. Jack moves very quickly with the wind, and his body never breaks under the force. He can withstand a few hard hits that would easily break a human, but leaves with only a few bumps here and there.
Jack's also a spirit…which may complicate things. Technically he's already dead, so he's dying again isn't a realistic thing. He's like a ghost- there's no need to eat or drink. Throughout the movie, he sometimes doesn't even seem to breathe unless under some kind of pressure. Being the spirit of winter, he doesn't feel the cold at all, even in Arctic temperatures. He has virtually no body heat, so he can only make things cold rather than make them hot. Just because him being a ghost already feels like a godmod, I'll say he can bleed if he's really injured but i don't know and man ask me about blood loss and I really don't know this is complicated.
He also walks barefoot and I like to think that he has something like hobbit feet because he can slide through the grass and everything and ugh that makes my feet hurt thinking about it ngl.
mental.
Jack's also very mentally strong, as well. When he was reborn, he spent 300 years without being recognized by anyone. He was completely invisible; the only ones who could see him was the other Guardians and the Man in the Moon. Even though he doesn't like it, Jack can survive in isolation for quite some time.
He's also a very determined individual. And a little stubborn too!
magical.
Jack has a few powers that could also complicate things a little bit...
The most important thing to him is his staff. He saved his sister out on the lake by using a crooked branch to throw her out of the way. It's become Jack's number one way to channel his powers into reality. It allows him to fly and to be as strong as he is; it's connected to him on a deeper level than just being his number one weapon. Without it, Jack wouldn't be able to travel, or use his powers. Breaking or losing his staff can cause great distress for him, as well as physical pain. But if the staff is broken, he can fix it right back together.
So yeah. Jack's called Father Frost for a reason.
He can basically control what happens in winter almost like instinct. Jack can make frost appear on the windowpanes with a single finger. He can control what kind of shape it takes, and can even draw pictures on it and make them come to life. He attacks with icy blasts that comes from the top of his staff; that's how he usually fights. Jack can either make it snow just a little, or cause a storm enough to give the kids a day off from school.
Jack can make snowballs form as if it was out of nowhere and supply them as ammo for snowball fights. He can create little snowflakes and let them fly around, with the pure essence of fun inside of them. Anyone who happens to get a snowball to the face with the fun Jack makes starts to have fun, no matter how grumpy or sad.
He may seem happy and carefree on the outside, but he can certainly bite.
When his emotions are high and the moment is right (which is usually bad enough for him to grow angry), Jack's powers can escalate by tenfold. When he's emotional, Jack can put enough power through to make sharp, jagged icebergs, or he's been known to freeze an entire army of nightmare horses. (i can't find a gif but it's true i promise) When Jack has a reason to go after someone, he attacks with as much power as he can muster. This usually leaves him exhausted afterwards, to the point where he passes out.
As much as Jack has his ups, he has his downs. The warmer the temperature, the more it will wear him out. Jack thrives in the cold, and to be exposed to the warm, hot air will leave him tired and weak. The chances of him being able to use his ice powers also grows slimmer in warmer climates.
So, honestly? Jack could do very well as a spirit in the Arena. He might not be able to kill anyone, but he can maneuver his way out of the line of fire and help others if they were in need. But without his powers, I'd say his score would be pretty dang low. 5 at max.
